クリスマスとお正月, Christmas and New Years

All right, the third installment of the blog will cover Christmas and New Years since those are both big (okay, only New Years) events.

So, first off, Christmas. Remember how I was telling you that there were a bunch of places that 琉球ストンプ was performing at? Yeah, one was at an event in American Village in Chatan. It was short and sweet and A LOT of fun! The performance was followed by a walk around Chatan covered in lights. Our ‘light parade’ so to speak.

On the 23rd, Roy, Hyeyeon and I had a road trip since it was a holiday for the 3 of us. So, we went to an outlet mall where we bought absolutely nothing because we’re poor students >.<
That night, we went to see Minoru’s final performance with his Yaeyama(八重山) circle.

Christmas was on a Sunday which was awesome because it was (sorta) a holiday! However, nothing really exciting happened because I spent most of the day stuck in my room preparing for my presentation the next day. YAY me….>.< And, that’s how my Christmas went.

The next weekend was お正月 which is a much bigger deal than Christmas so I actually got until the 4th of January off. Yes, you observant people, I had to be back in my lab on my birthday. Awesome yeah?

Anyway, New Year was spent at Roy’s apartment cooking up a feast! And no, we couldn’t eat it all. We did have lunch for the next day (the second) though. Also, got to enjoy the 紅白 live again! It’s always the best that way! At about 3 or 4 in the morning, we went to 普天間 where we did the normal new year thing of getting our fortunes and praying and the like. We took our other friend Naya there. It was his first time.

So, as I said before, we did something on the second. Guess guess!!!
R-O-A-D-  -T-R-I-P!!!!!
We went up to Churaumi again. Ah, the year pass sure does come in handy! Thanks mom and dad!!

This time, I wasn’t so pressed on time like with my parents so I got to read all the exhibits and learn a lot more Japanese phrases that hopefully will be useful if I end up working at an aquarium (since Hawaii has so many Japanese speaking people). It was also really cute that they changed the show slightly to be in theme with the New Year. Here’s the video that I took. Sorry, its shaky but I tried my best.

Well, that’s all for now!! The next installment shall be my last!
